Strength: Offense- It doesn't get much better than the offensive talent that Lake Worth will put on the field this year. Starting with standout QB Star Jackson, this team has many weapons that can make big plays including RB's Doug Perry and Marquiste McNeil. WR's Brad Pierre and Javon Jackson are solid targets that should catch alot of balls this year. It doesn't just stop at the skill spots though as OL Joe Looney is one of the best in the state at opening up running lanes. Scoring points should not be a problem for the Trojans this year.
Weakness: Rushing Defense- It was the achillies heel of the team last year, and there doesn't seem to be much relief in site. The trojans lack serious depth on the defensive side of the ball and need to rely on too many players to play both ways, which causes them to wear down as the game goes on. Expect this weakness to once again rear it's head this year and put this team into alot of high scoring shootouts.
Key Player: RB/LB Doug Perry- Most would have expected Star Jackson to be in this spot, but Doug Perry is actually the most important football player to this team. He is a terrific RB who can gain both the tough yards, but is also a homerun threat. On top of that, he is also the teams best linebacker and overall defensive player. Perry staying healthy and on the field is a must for Lake Worth this year if they plan on getting into the postseason.
Key Game: Lake Worth is a very talented, but thin team. They rely on many players to play both ways which could cause the team to get worn down as the season goes on. For that reason, it is imperitive that the Trojans get off to a strong start and not have to play catchup in this tough district as the season goes on. For that reason, the week 4 matchup against Palm Beach Central could very well be a must win game for Lake Worth.
Outlook: A tough schedule will keep Lake Worth on there heels all season long. Just not many easy games on the slate, which could pose a problem for a team like this. Expect the Trojans to compete in every game, but also be competed with in nearly every game. They could very well be the most exciting team to watch in the county this year, as one can envision lots of high scoring shootouts over the course of the season. All in all, the talent level is there for this team to make the postseason, but they will need to stay healthy for it to happen.
Prediction: 7-3 (3-1), T-1st in district
