And The #4 Team is......Atlantic High School
Posted on 8/20/2007 @ 6:50 pm EDT by josh

Football The Eagles from Atlantic High School are one of the most talked about teams on the message boards of 561sports. Will they live up to the hype this year or have another disapointing finish?

Team: Atlantic

Schedule:
Week 1: Boca Raton
Week 2: Palm Beach Lakes
Week 3: Bye
Week 4: @ Treasure Coast
Week 5: @ Boynton Beach
Week 6: South Fork
Week 7: @ West Boca Raton
Week 8: @ Spanish River
Week 9: @ John I. Leonard
Week 10: Santaluces
Week 11: Palm Beach Gardens

Strength: Depth- You will not find many schools in the entire state let alone this county with as much depth as the Eagles have this year. 17 players with starting experience return, and the 2nd string is full of players who would be able to start on many teams in the county. Atlantic has plenty of size on both lines and tons of speed at the skill positions, which should allow them to suffocate most teams on the schedule.

Weakness: Passing Offense- While many teams won't be at the level of Atlantic in terms of passing offense, this is clearly the weakest part of the team right now as they are very strong in all the other aspects. Chivas Jones returns at QB where he had an up and down year last year. A few weapons graduated, but a few return, with the top target being senior WR Breante Allen. If Atlantic is too go a long way in the postseason this year, they are going to need those 2 players to really step up and blossom.

Key Player: CB/WR/KR Jayron Hosely- With all the big names on this Atlantic team, Hosely will have a big impact on the team in all facets of the game. He's a dynamite return man, one of the very best in the county. He's also a big time big play corner back who will make you pay if you try to throw his way too often. On top of that, he'll also see time on offense for the Eagles as a slot WR where he is very dangerous in the open field. Some may not know his name yet, but look for Jayron to step up and be one of the best all-around football players in the county this year.

Key Game: The district was a cake walk for Atlantic the past years, but this season a new challenger possibly emerges as South Fork has joined the district. They gave Atlantic all they could handle and then some in the playoffs last year, so look for that game to decide who wins and comes in 2nd place in the district.

Outlook: This is a football team that legitimately has the talent to win a state championship. At the same time though, this programs needs to start producing to it's talent level if they want to be respected as a state title caliber program. The talent, experience, and depth is all in place for a playoff run, now the Eagles just have to produce the results.

Prediction: 9-1 (4-0), 1st in District
